CICERO

Two of my classes got into Cicero for the first time for a few minutes today, and they really enjoyed what they found there. I let them just explore for a while, and most of them were attracted to the 20th century stuff like the Cuban Missile Crisis and other 20th century history that they've heard of but never studied. A few of them were looking at pages related to our current unit of study, the early Federal period. We had lots of videos and songs playing at the same time, many photos were open, so the room got a little chaotic, but it was all in good "exploration mode". The best part was that they were asking me lots of questions about what they were looking at and I was able to tell them that the answers are in the support documents. It was great!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!! As a 4th grade teacher I'm really looking forward to your new product for lower grades. But even so, I'm thrilled with the wealth of material at my fingertips now. I used 3 resources just today - Power Point, art, and article. Thank you for what you do!

We are very pleased with CICERO! Our TAH ROCKS! participants have used it now for the past two years. The participants incorporate CICERO into many lessons and find that it is very useful at all levels. Our teacher participants vary from grades 5, 8, and 11. It has become an invaluable tool for our teachers' lesson delivery. I would definitely recommend that you make this online program available to your teachers.

I wanted to thank you again for all of your hard with the Orange County teachers. The program you put together for us was outstanding. I appreciated your interpretations and the depth of the history you provided for us in Philadelphia and Gettysburg. Thank you for pushing us through the grass at "Pickett's" Charge. I have a deeper appreciation for the momentous events of July 1863.

I am loving the Cicero site!! The teaching tools are fantastic — the graphic organizers, powerpoints, timelines, and more! Today the kids had a fantastic time using the challenge game to review for a test (delayed after all the snow days) - what a super way to refresh key ideas and keep the kids motivated! I am thrilled to find materials so applicable to the elementary level as well as the upper grades!! Thank you!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our partnership with the American Institute for History Education (AIHE). Our teachers have increased not only their content knowledge through the colloquiums, but also their pedogicial skills. The professors and master history teachers AIHE has provided are top-notch. Our teachers walk away from each staff development offering excited to use their new knowledge back in the classroom. We have several districts where two history teachers were involved in the grant, went back and shared their knowledge and excitement with others, and now have the entire history department involved. Principals are very pleased with what their teachers are gaining through involvement in the TAH grant, and AIHE.

I honestly don't know what I would do without CICERO. Being allowed access to that site has made my life so much easier. I am researching CICERO today to prepare for the New Deal and then WWII and can't believe the plethora of information available. I don't know why anyone who has access to the site wouldn't use it!
